Dr. Chris Goodier BEng(Hons) PhD pgCert MCIOB FICT FHEA, is the Deputy Director of the Centre for Innovative and Collaborative Construction Engineering (CICE) in Loughborough University's School of Civil and Building Engineering. He is an experienced Civil Engineer, Chartered Builder and Researcher with 23 years of experience in all aspects of construction, including contracting, consultancy and research. He is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Building (MCIOB), a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA), and a Fellow of the Institute of Concrete Technology (FICT). He is also academic lead for the European Construction Institute's Innovation and Technology Direction Group, and a member of several BSI committees.
He serves on several journal editorial panels and conference technical committees is a reviewer for more than 20 journals and works internationally with many organizations such as EPSRC, NERC, British Council, ANR, NSERC, RCN, EERA, and IoM3. He is a judge for many technology and innovation awards, as well as winning and being short-listed for several more, including the ACE Engineering Excellence Awards, ICE Merit Awards, and the CIOB-ARCOM CRI Innovation and Sustainability award.
He worked previously for 7 years for Laing Civil Engineering and BRE and was the Lead Expert for construction on the UK Government's Foresight Sustainable Energy Management and the Built Environment futures project. He has authored nearly 200 publications in the field of offsite construction, construction technology, concrete materials, construction management, and the future of the construction sector. Authored books include Design in Modular Construction and the RICS Future of UK Housebuilding.
