Stella studied pure mathematics at New York University and went on to earn a Ph.D. in applied mathematics from UC Davis. While working on her Ph.D., she discovered a passion for data science and machine learning, teaching herself these skills to support her research. What started as a tool for academic projects quickly became a field she fell in love with.
Initially, Stella planned to become a professor, but her career goals shifted during the final years of her Ph.D., when she participated in the Insight Health Data fellowship program. There, she met a former ICU doctor turned data scientist who shared a perspective that deeply resonated with her: “As a doctor in the ICU, you can save a few lives, but as a data scientist optimizing ICU resources, you have the potential to save many more.” That moment sparked a desire in Stella to apply her skills to real-world challenges where she could make a tangible difference.
Now at Keystone, Stella is excited to join the team, learn from her colleagues, and contribute to the company’s success, driven by her belief in the power of data to improve lives.
